Thanks for this web-site
I had the LSL done on Thursday of last week (Schaumburg, IL). I did not need to sedative and was able to pretty much get back to work the following day. With that said, I was swollen for 2 - 3 days, but that has mostly subsided.

A close friend of mine (who thought I was nuts for doing this) saw me for the first time yesterday (4 days post-procedure), and stated that I looked at least 10 years younger (YES!!).

My only complaint thus far is my earlobes are still somewhat numb. But, since it hasn't even been a week - I will give it time. The muscles and skin have been through alot; and, healing will happen.

Your story lends realism to many accounts that I have read. Many people assume they will look normal in a day. These are the people who complain and bad-mouth the procedure. Too many factors go into recover - age / health / amount of work done / tolerance to pain. Best idea is to find out about the physician and do your research.

Maureen, I'm on your side. Dr. Khoury did my surgery on January 31st at the Troy office in Michigan. I am 62 and my jowls were bothering me tremendously. I hated to look in a mirror. Now, 3 months later, I am so very pleased I listened to my inner self and had the procedure. I agree with you that Dr. Khoury is a wonderful doctor. I put my trust in him completely. Although I don't look 20 (but didn't want to either), I look refreshed, the deep lines around my mouth are gone, my neck is tight and smooth, and the jowls are no longer staring back at me in the mirror. Funny how I now look at my friends with their 'turkey'necks' and think to myself that I'm glad I don't have one anymore.

Re: Important Questions
Hi Kathy,

Thank you for your kind words and your question. The way it was explained to me is that it should last forever. That's not to say that you will look like a million bucks forever. It doesn't stop time, you will continue to age as you normally would, but it will set the clock back, so you will always look better than if you had nothing done. I hope that makes sense.

I think some people are disappointed for many many different types of reasons. One thing to consider is that with the high number of people who have had the lifestyle lift there are bound to be some people who have less than ideal results. This is going to be true with any procedure, surgery, product, service, what have you. I think the satisfaction percentage is actually pretty high for the lifestyle lift, but since they have done so many that number of dissatisfied people goes up too, even though the percentage is still low. Also, unhappy clients tend to be louder and more vocal than happy clients who just want to get back to their life and let people wonder why they look a little different.

Sometimes people seek cosmetic enhancement to fix the problems in their life, thinking everything will be fixed, but not so. So they vent.

I've read reviews by people who say they are disappointed because they had to wear a bandage after the process. Well of course you had to wear a bandage, silly. These people might not be doing all their homework and are not really aware of what to expect.

Others don't look great for as long as they expect because they don't take good care of themselves If you eat twinkies and ding dongs all day your jowls may come back.

All in all, I think its really important to do your homework, know what to expect in advance, and set realistic expectations. Also, pick a doctor you are confident in and trust.

important questions
hi Maureen - I am very curious about how long this lasts? When I researched the Lifestyle Lift I noticed many complaints and people being disappointed. What do you attribute this to? Thanks Maureen and you look great!!!
#23 - Kathy - 04/21/2008 - 19:17
Maureen. I love your web site. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I too went to the consulation and was very impressed with the meeting I had. My one concern is that I would like to meet and talk to someone that has actually had this done in my area. I live in Las Vegas, Nv so if any of your e-mails are from this area, please have them contact me.
Thank You

I have never done this, where do I see the answers. I had just done a search on LL. My husband and I both have an appointment in Seattle. It is about 3 1/2 hours away. I realize every doctor is different. Has anybody had it there and if so, how was it?
Great website

Re: Tightness
Hi Leonor,

Thank you for your kind words. I love your name, by the way. I'm glad you are happy with your Lifestyle Lift.

The numbness you are describing is most likely a little bit of nerve damage. This is pretty common with most people who get some work done. But, no worries it will heal in time. For most people the numbness goes away anywhere from 3 months to a year after their procedure. I had a little numbness for a few months but it seems much better now.

Thanks!

Hi Maureen,
I had the LL on March 12th and feel great and look very good. I am always so happy to see myself in the mirror now. I am 52 yo and I looked 62. Now I look 42!! :)
I have a question... Do the numness around the ears and on the side of the face go away eventually? It feels tender and num. I wonder if I'll ever feel my ears as they were before... How was it for you?

You look great and it was a great idea to create a web site. It sure does help others who are going thru it.
Thank you.

Re: Neck Done
Hi Carleen,

Yes, I had my neck and lower face done tightened (w/ lipo). I didn't really research the Houston office as I had mine in Michigan.

Re: Thinking About it
Hi Diane,

When I had it done they told me Lifestyle Lift has been around since 2001 and performed around 100,000 procedures. A few good places to get Lifestyle Lift information:

1. the lifestyle lift website www.lifestylelift.com

2. cosmetic today has alot of Q&A with the doctors www.cosmetictoday.com, go to the forum section

3. try the search engines

4. ME! if there is anything specific, maybe I can help

Maureen,
Did you have just your neck done?
Have you heard any positive or negative things about the LL in Houston? I have seen a Dr. Smith from the Houston office.
Thanks
Carleen

Thinking about it
thinking about LL. I live in Illinois. How do I find out more info on the procedure and how it works. How long has this procedure been around? Haven't found many people in IL that had it done.

Length Of Time
Hello Maureen Boutwell,

Good question. I asked the same thing to Dr Khoury and this is how he explained it to me. Basically, you are setting back the clock. You are always going to look better than you did before, but your face will continue to age, there is still no cure for that.

Lifestyle Lift is a permanent improvement, but based on how well you take care of yourself, (diet, exercise, exposure to sun) and your genetics your face is still going to continue to age.

I hope that is helpful.

Mrs.
Maureen: I am considering this procedure to reduce the jowls and of course the turkey neck. My question concerns the length of time this procedure lasts. I have read online that many who have had this procedure are seeing slackening in the jowl area after about two years. I realize that gravity is still a problem for skin, but I would hate to spend the money only to find that in two years time, all is as it was. Can you enlighten please.

Dear Julie,

I am sorry for responding to you late. I didn't check my inbox in time.

To respond to your question, trust your instincts and go for it. You won't be disappointed. Are you going to the Troy Michigan office? If you are, ask for Dr. Khoury. He is wonderful and he tells you every little detail about what to expect, what you will feel and what you will hear. I was also scared about the shots but Dr. Khoury has these little tricks and before you know it you are done and he is ready to begin. I was like you before the procedure but because I trusted Dr. Khoury and he understood my concerns, he was able to make me feel comfortable. If this is something you want to do, go for it and don't let anyone or anything get in the way.

If I had to do it all over again, I would do it again. It was the best decision I ever made and well worth the money. Please let me know if you have anymore questions.

Good Luck!

Maureen

Congrats!
Hi, my name is nicole and I too have had some work done with Lifestyle Lift and it turned out wonderfully. I want to commend you for putting together this site. There is a lot of information out there, and the more of us that can put out our experiences too, the better. I am very happy with the work I had done in the Independence, Ohio office and I would definately recommend them. I know how important this was to me and I just wanted to say congrats and thank you!

Lift
I am thinking about having the LL done but is scared to death of needles/shots.

Could you take me thru the process from the consultant day thru the surgery day, every little detail.

Also when you have brusing where is it? Behind the ears, on face, neck, forehead?

Thanks for your time.

You look great.

You look wonderful!
Hi maureen,

Thanks so much for putting together this website. I'm amazed at how wonderful and gorgeous you look. what a difference. They did a wonderful job, you look like you're in your mid 30's. You give me hope to move forward on my own facelift. Thanks again!

Maureen,

I talked to you a week ago regarding my concerns about the Lifestyle Lift. I was glad that you took the time to inform me about what to expect. Thank you for sharing your pictures, you look great. You seem very happy and although I am still nervous I am scheduled for a lift on December 19th. Thanks again.

Good Idea
Good idea, Yvonne. At your consult make sure you ask every question you might be unclear about. So many people go into this with unrealistic expectations, misconceptions, or are simply not prepared for what to expect after or into the future.

Best wishes!

Hi Maureen: thanks for your input. After reading your reply and talking to Diane at the LL-Center I feel better. I also decided to have a consultation with Dr. Koury.(which I previously declined to do.. due to the long drive up there)I decide to address certain issues and expectations with him so as not to be dissapointed later. I will see him jan 16 and am sceduled for the LL on the 24th. wish me luck...thanks again..Yvonne

Still Happy? Yes!
Hi Yvonne,

Thanks for your question. Its true there are a lot of negative comments out there about the Lifestyle Lift, but it may depend on which doctor you go to. I've never read anything bad about Dr Khoury (only positive), I think that is a testament to his skill and his patients' satisfaction. Also, I know competing doctors play games and give their competitors poor reviews and leave bad comments because they are losing business. Thats not to say some of those reviews aren't true.

Dr Khoury isn't board certified, thats true, but he is board eligible and seeking his certification. In my opinion, he did an outstanding job on me. My sister just had it done two days ago by him also, she is happy to say the least.

I feel like I am almost completely done healing and can't rave enough about how much better this has made me feel. I'm still very happy.

Good luck!

Maureen: hi I am scheduled to have a LL with Dr Koury in Jan. I was there for a consult. 2 days ago. Today I decide to do some more reserch on the net. I was suprised by all the negative comments I found. I was also surprised to learn the Dr Koury is not a board certified plastic surgeon. I was starting to have 2cd thoughts about the whole thing. After reading your page I felt a little better. I also noticed most of the bad comments were not from michigan. all the same I am still a little scared by all of it. Are you still happy with your results and how are you healing..thanks Yvonne
